Which civics test will I take — the 2008 or 2025 version?
It depends on your filing date: USCIS gives the 2008 test to applicants who filed Form N-400 before October 20, 2025, and the 2025 test to those who filed on or after that date. OathBuddy covers both official pools — 100 questions for the 2008 test and 128 for the 2025 test — so you can practice whichever applies to you.
How many questions are on the civics test?
On the 2008 version, the officer asks up to 10 questions from the 100-question pool and you need 6 correct to pass. On the 2025 version, the officer asks 20 questions from the 128-question pool and you need 12 correct.
